Queensland where Australia Shines

Todays motivational song… by adopted Aussie Band, Crowded House ,  Weather with You.

Well done Tourism QLD. I like the slogan. I like it alot and it looks great with the artwork.

And it is true – it’s not just a gimmick to get people here. We have sunshine, even on rainy days.

Some other random photos of the Gold Coast. The beaches are the best. When you are people how they “feel” about the coast, most say they love the weather and feel like they have one foot in heaven. I totally agree.

This is this morning with our muttly…..Honey..check out the magic fresh water lake in the back ground, the blue skies and the Hinterlands. It’s so wonderful living on the Coast. 290920103479 290920103477

New order

I ordered another 1000 copies of Beauty and the Beast Within today.

50 cents is being donated to Bravehearts. So if I should sell 90% (usually 10% given away as promo), then that will be $450 for Bravehearts. I like the thought of selling a few more zeros behind the 1000. One million copies will raise $500, 000 for Bravehearts. Now that is some serious money to raise for charity – one so good like Bravehearts.

Are women becoming men?

High testosterone levels are becoming common among women.

84% of women feel they have a hormone imbalance, and 3 out of 10 women have a condition called poly cystic ovary syndrome.

Unfortunately many women probably have elevated levels of testosterone and are either walking out on their partner, can’t find mister Right, or their doctor has started them on anti-depressants.

Testosterone plays a very important role in women. It contributes to:

- energy levels

- muscle development

- sex drive

- makes us feel good

- strengthen bones

- protects against heart disease

And when we (women) don’t produce enough, we feel low in all of the above.

BUT when we make too much testosterone, women feel and experience the following:

- anger and irritability (including road rage and probably school yard bullying)

- obesity

- poly cystic ovary syndrome

- infertility

- unwanted facial and body hair

- deep or gravelly voice

- facial acne or pimples on the back or chest

- muscular stance, square jaw line and very “tom-boyish”

Women can end up looking like this if they don’t stop, reassess and try reversing some contributing factors. Unfortunately for many women, this is a true reality.

 image

Hormone balance

this is a short you tube clip explaining happy hormone balance in women.

84% of women feel they have a hormone imbalance! Are you one of them?

Women make a few sex hormones, but the 3 main ones will be discussed here.

The best way to check your hormone levels is via a saliva test. Blood tests will give you inaccurate results.

Oestrogen should be under 10. Ideally 3-6

Progesterone should be 800 but more importantly in a ratio of 200:1 of oestrogen

Testosterone should be between 80-100.

If your hormones are outside these levels, chances are you will feel “out of balance”.

Women are becoming Men

84% of women have self reported having a hormone imbalance.

This is a major health issue for both women and men!

Women are morphing into hormonally being a man.

business lady dark suit

This in turn comes out as the physical symptoms such as:

- unwanted hair on the face and receding or thinning hair

- acne

- deep voice, anger and aggression

- square jaw line, masculine stance and increased muscle definition

Diseases and conditions associated with this are:

- insulin problems and obesity

- poly cystic ovary syndrome

- infertility

How the woman feels:

- irritated, angry and short tempered

- unhappy , often depressed

- stressed and time poor

- frustrated with everyone around them, especially their male counterparts.

Depressed Overweight Woman
This is what my book and research is about and what I want to discuss with Oprah and her audience.

My book and findings about women becoming men

This is really a call to enquiry… women are you becoming too masculine? Are you feeling angry, cranky and irritable. Are you finding kids and partners are getting in the way of goals?

This book is just for you…

You can order on line at www.byebyebridget.com . The audio is available this week and the new printed version will be out in 5 days with 3 women telling about their journeys.

crazy saturday

A draw in our biggest grand final of the year… Saints 68 v Collingwood – 68 . Pretty amazing game to watch. I thought I was going to have a stroke I was that excited and neither are my team.

WE had a nice walk at the lake across – it’s a natural marvel – fresh water springs feed into it and it self regulates and never gets polluted. Heaps of people use if for triathalon training. It’s a special lake.

Australia is the best at this time of the year

I love this song Black eyed peas Tonights Gonna be a Good Night, thanks Fiona

What can I say, tonight is the start of a great week-end – tonight local rugby team take on Sydney Roosters. North versus South.

Tomorrow is an even bigger day – it is one of Melbourne’s key sporting events – AFL grand inal day. It’s the best day (along with Melbourne Cup day). Saints playing the Pies. I hope the Saints win…. even though Collingwood were a second team for ages.

The kids have a putt putt party on Saturday, while I will take Kalani to the surf club to watch the AFL footy final. I will try to take kids slack lining at Springbrook National Park on Sunday and then maybe Wet and Wild. And my gorgeous girlfriend is back from Western Australia (she is doing remote nursing with the Aboriginals) so we will have lots to catch up on.

Great news and great support

Thank-you Tourism Australia for putting me forward to Harpo. I am so happy.

If I Oprah “hangs-out with me” here’s what we will do

3 hours

1. Gold Coast the healthy alternative:

I would make sure she is lined up to meet a kangaroo, wombat and koala somewhere. If not, straight to Currumbin Wildlife Park for a g’day to skippy and the boys.

Then up through the lovely Tullabudgera Valley to Gwinganna the health and lifestyle clinic that I work at (with their special permission as it’s not normal open for day visitors), for the most divine organic lunch and local wines then onto the most delicious treatment at the superb spa.

Then head back down to depart.

2. Gold Coast – the surfers’ paradise

A bushwalk around Burleigh Heads to Tallebudgera Estuary, then back, lunch at Oscars – kicking back with some delicious seafood and superb wines while over looking the best surf break in the world.

3. The Southern End of Gold is still gold

A walk around Point Danger, back around Snapper, for a beer at Rainbow Bay, onto Kirra for a yummy contemporary Australian meal at any fantastic restaurant then back to airport.

Full day – helicopter

4. Northern Rivers Delights

Head to Summit Organics to see organic produce and how alive and beautiful the farm is. Then around Mt. Warning, the first piece of land to receive day light every day. Then to Byron Bay and Wategos.

A walk over to Little Wategos and up to the light house. All for it’s simple majestical presence and also as it is the most eastern point of Australia. It’s somewhere I go as often as I can just to surf in the lazy safe waves at Wategos, or to day dream and draw up at the light house. The cafe shop has the best chocolate brownie slice and lattes.

Then back down to Wategos – unsure if Oprah will be up for a swim, but it’s the best beach in the whole world so I would hope to entice her. Then for a gorgeous meal at Rae’s on Wategos. It must be the best wedding setting in the world too. Food, wine , service and views delightful.

Afterwards the choice of a body treatment at my friend’s 7 star day spa or meander back up to the airport via Crystal Castle for some yummy afternoon tea and recharge of the batteries. She may even want her aura read if she hasn’t had it done before.

5. The Gold Coast Hinterland

A trip to Springbrook National Park to try some slack lining with the kids and I, a look at Purling brook falls and the outlook walk. Off to Natural Bridge, over to Mt Tamborine for a few wineries, some yummy cheeses and views. Lunch at Cedar Creek , glow worms, gentle walk, back to airport via Thumbs estate for some port and resveretrol jam.

6. Great southern land of the north

Of course a trip to Ron Clarkes old haunts, Couran Cove or McLaren's Landing would be superb and very Australian with loads of wild life, but unsure if the travel on the water would be too much. Although it is a great way to switch off the brain.

Anywhere in Australia

This is tough. There are so many special, unique and wonderful to spots to visit.

My top 3 would be:

7. A Taste of Tasmania

OF course I would start with my home state. It is still a notch above everywhere else with authentic, original and best tasting everything – cheeses, wines, jams, cakes, pastries, coffees, seafood, olives everything..

So this would be a gourmet, breath taking for views and totally unhindered day trip.

We would start in Hobart, to visit Cascades at the foot of the mountain, and to smell the sweet damp air rising from the creek that spills into the wide Derwent River. I would have suggested a trip around Cadburys but they stopped the tours about 10 years ago – not happy Jan – that was one of my favourite or all time favourite childhood memories. (sorry Morrilla Estate, you miss out too).

Anyway, helicopter to Coles Bay. A short walk on Wine Glass Bay, a swim back in Coles Bay. A culinary extravaganza at Freycinet lodge, while chilling out.

I would love to take her through Bicheno, the waterfalls, Binalong Bay, so many absolutely beautiful spots. But we would helicopter to Cradle Mountain, going across the midlands, stopping at Ross or Cambelltown to see the old convict buildings, or oldest bridge. On to Cradle Mountain, for a walk around Lake Dove, afternoon tea at the lodge and once again, just to sit outside on a chiart and smell the sweet alpine air. It must be some of the best air in the world.

Then back to Melbourne.

8. A True Blue experience

This would travel through Leitchfield National Park, to a crocodile show, maybe on to Mataranka with a swim in the glorious warm water – its such a freak of nature and so beautiful. It’s dry season but maybe a trip through Jabiru and a look at the aboriginal art as it is truly spectacular and spiritual. Then back to Katherine to have a lightly chilled Sav Blanc from Western Australia.

9. Plus I love the north end

Start in Cairns, and rail road to Kuranda. I remember one year the company I was working for hired it out and had a rag-time band and free alcohol on board. It was the best train trip ever. We could but offer her a bungy jump, failing that, the Ulysses Butterflies are so magnificent they have to be seen to be believed. Helicopter to Port Douglas for a scrumptious meal any where at the wharf, a walk up to Mossman Gorge for a swim, over to the Daintree for a string quartet on the beach and a fly over the Great Barrier Reef back to the airport.

There are so many other excellent fun and relaxing day trips around, but they would be the pick for the allocated time.

Wet in Paradise

Today’s motivational song is Jump by Van Halen (one of my favorite bands during the 80s) and perfect for the kids and me today with puddles everywhere. Thanks Fiona x

Well today I took the 2 little ‘uns to Movie World. We are so lucky on the Gold Coast with the theme parks. For $99 each, you get unlimited entry to Movie World, Sea World and Wet and Wild. Its the best way to keep sane.

These are some pics from today. This was during the stunt show – really COOL! They put the Stig to shame.

220920103413 220920103427 220920103431

The kids love Movie World and today during the rain, I discovered the buffet. Now, buffets are not something I gravitate towards, but today it was well worth it. The kids had a ball getting to eat all sorts of foods we don’t normally have and it seemed relatively calm compared to the chaos outside. Everyone was happy. Sanity and happy memories – that’s what it is about.

I was very happy to find a real gardener with a real garden in the kid’s zone. Although my kids got some inquisitive looks as they munched into organic apples. Clearly the child beside mine was dreaming of a green thing in his hand as mine ate theirs.

A smile is the best way to start the day

Congrats channel 9 this made me smile http://today.ninemsn.com.au/videoindex.aspx?videoid=89207541-c800-47d6-ae88-0fd030f8e8c2

Have started a great visualisation audio recorded by my friend, Mark. It’s very powerful.

Today kids, clients and a big fat LATTE!

What will I discuss with Oprah

There is so much – but I have narrowed it to the following themes for Harpo.

1. Typical Aussie gal – the best life, the best opportunities (including access to free health, free education and safety). I play sport , I am allowed to vote and I can walk on the best beaches in the world – freely and at any time I like.

2. A well travelled Aussie who still calls Australia home.. I grew up in Hobart, lived 4 years in Melbourne, 2 years in Sydney and now on the Gold Coast for 14 years. All amazing cities – all with so much to offer and all great holiday places.

3. My message for women about life, themselves and hormone changes. All my research, the sum of my 23 years as a health professional, including being a nurse, a naturopath and even my 10 years in the pharmaceutical industry.

4. My life journey – it is so much fun, despite my mum dying when I was 12, being shuffled from relative to relative, finding angels and mentors through my teen years, and now my single life as a mum of 3, through to running my own successful business. I have the best life, with wonderful friends and love every day.

5. My pure love of life and opportunities. For me, my country is my foundations. Where else in the world can you start afresh , like I have done, time and time again. It is a great land of prosperity, hope and choice. Every day, I am grateful for my heritage (Italian immigrants)  and the fact I was born here.

6. My charities – Paradise kids, Bravehearts and orphanages in Asia.

I would love to inspire the world, to seize opportunities, to create paths of happiness and to dream and then allow the dream to come true.

This is one of my favorite things to cook on a sleepy Sunday

Roasted Capsicum… To be used in tomorrow night’s lasagna and to eat al fresco style.190920103376 190920103382 190920103383

Put capsicums on a tray in the over set on 250.

Roast for approx 20-30 mins.

Wash under the tap and the skin will simply fall away.

190920103384 190920103385

Chop up and put in a dish with Virgin Australian Olive Oil (be very liberal with oil).

Add a pinch of sea salt or Murray River Salt.

Serve with corn crackers and other nibblies. Delicious.

The power of Facebook

Trying to get as many people joining this face book site. Spread the word. Thank-you HQ

Happy Sunday

Easy like a Sunday morning - the faith no more version – thanks Linda :-)

I have had the best start to the day…

First to the Organic markets at Miami High. Open 6-1130 am every Sunday

190920103372

I Love my organic vegies – I get excited just having them in house.

190920103374

This is a little organic garden I bought this morning. I now have 2 . You can get them from these guys (hover mouse over the black writing and click):

190920103375

Saw some live bands last night at Swell in Burleigh – they scanned our ID on the way in, took a photo and keep it on  file for 28 days. It was kinda “freaky” and very Blade Runner like. Anyway, I am sure security checks like that will be the norm for my kids when they are older. They also only had plastic cups – for beer, wine and spirits. That is a great initiative. Well done who ever brought it in. Great venue, space to dance, pool tables etc…

These guys all have open days coming up. I stronger urge you to go if you are not sure about the whole organic thing.

1. Summit Organics – Saturday 2nd October 945 am – 1pm.

RSVP: summitoganics@skymesh.com.au

2. Bio Organic Farms – Saturday 9th October 10am.

RSVP: organic_farm@bigpond.com

Sunny Saturday on the Goldie

Today’s motivational song is Pump it, Black Eyed Peas… thanks Loraine

I have been a little obsessed with being on Oprah – but no more than an Olympic Athlete training for Gold, or someone launching their new business. I believe it takes a massive effort and commitment. I am doing all the little things that business coaches tell you MAKE the DIFFERENCE. Do the stuff that other people can’t be bothered to do, or don’t like doing. So I am embracing those years of advice.

I am also trying to keep balance. I get the 3 amigos back tomorrow so today will be a  culmination of work (clients), Oprah, drawing, exercising and catching up with some friends.

170920103360

This is a drawing I finished last night (pastels – self taught as you can see)

180920103361

This is one I  started last night – the photo is on the right hand side. It’s the sweeping view up to Surfers Paradise photo taken from the other day.I draw on my kitchen wall. It’s the perfect easel.

The Gold Coast – one foot in heaven

I love living on the Gold Coast. This is from this afternoon at Mermaid. I literally parked my car right beside the surf club . No stress, no fees. All free.

Love this place.

170920103357

A very average day by Gold Coast standards (hence no one on the beach) but still spectacular. I was walking in shorts and t-shirt and the water is so warm….

Promoting yourself or an idea

To be on a show like Oprah, one needs to draw from multiple sources. I know that it will take lots of energy (but it is fun) and it may take many resources to become a guest.

I will be utilising marketing tools, media tools, social networking and of course visualisation and the “laws of attraction.”

Today i am going to add a You Tube clip to this blog.

Why You Tube?

I learnt about the power of the internet from a web guru called Monte Huebsch.

Monte’s knowledge on utilising the internet is second to none. From him I learnt that Google is No 1 search engine in the world, and You Tube is the second. This means when people are looking up a topic on the internet, if they don’t find a satisfactory answer on google (probably on the first page) then they will go to You Tube.

It’s really easy. All you need is a video camera (I use my phone) , a USB connector (so you can connect your phone or video to your computer) and a You Tube account. You Tube is free so it is just a matter of spending 10 minutes signing up and starting your account.

The videos don’t have to be “world class”. But they should be quick, lively and informative.

I have found that I am getting better and better with each one. This is one I have done today to add to my blog site.

Oh yes, the other reasons you tube clips are really good are:

- people can get a “feel” for you before they buy from you

- you can demonstrate an idea or process (sometimes better than the written word)

- you are rewarded by google for having more activity connected to your site

- of course, You Tube is the world’s second search engine. It’s like not having a presence on google . Nowdays its just considered the norm.

Funky Friday

Today's motivational song is by The Wombats (pomi band) Let's Dance to Joy Division

Lots to do today. I feel a slight lull but need to pick my energy levels up…. A quick walk before my first client and hopefully a surf later in the day (this always washes away any negative self-limiting thoughts).

OK, play my motivational song once more than off I twaddle…

How to make your own vision board

Well how much fun can one person have?

Making your own vision board is a mixture of nerves, fun and expansion.

It can be nerve-wracking because you are declaring to yourself, that I can do this, I want this.

It is fun, because you can think BIG, real BIG and no one says “you are not up to that, you can’t do that” , infact as soon as you realise there is nothing to RISK by doing your very own vision board, your ideas and desires flow.

And it is expansive, because once you try it once, on something smallish, you will find it works, time and time again and you can pretty much get whatever YOU PUT YOUR MIND and SOUL to.

Why is this?

A vision board, simply reminds you of what you are in “alignment with.”

Seeing it every day simply reminds you of what you want and eventually leads to an increase in your excitement and eventually your acceptance of the fact that your declaration will come TRUE.

Here are some suggestions if you have never done one before:

1. work out 3 things that you would love to occur or happen in your life….

a.

b.

c.

2. Make this a 5 year plan, 12 month plan and a 3 month plan

a.

b.

c.

3. Go to a shopping centre, look on the internet, find pictures that represent these dreams and desires. They may from travel magazines, people you know, newspaper clippings, any magazine, or booklet. Cut them out and stick them onto a canvas , pin onto a cork board, or magnetise onto your fridge.

4. add colours, images that really resonate with you, so that the image becomes alive and you can “feel it” occurring. You will know you are on the right path because you get a little buzz.

5. Stick it somewhere that you look regularly. Have them in the toilet, in the kitchen, in your office, in your bedroom, in your car, or even stuck to your computer. There is no right or wrong.

6. Redo your vision boards regularly. Everything on them comes true if that is what you really want. If you are not confident, start small. Eg: to attend a show in town. Then extend yourself and make it big.

Here are some subjects that you may like to try:

- relationships

- kids

- holidays

- house/home

- friends

- day to day happiness

- aspirations in work

Please feel free to post any feedback. Cheers Sam

The beauty of snail mail

It’s funny, I still get excited getting mail out of my mail box.

So with that in mind, I sent 10 snail mail letters today to various people. One of course to Oprah and her producers.

My friend suggested writing on green paper and posting in red envelopes (apparently good feng shui). I’m happy to try anything.

Who will Oprah Interview?

Today's song is This is the Best Thing by Hook and Sling

160920103348

Wonderful morning at the beach.

This was last night's mail out:

Who will Oprah interview?

Is Oprah coming to Australia to do Tourism Australia a favour? Possibly..

Is she coming to reward her show guests? Possibly…

Is she coming because she genuinely wants to connect with some Aussies – OF COURSE she is.

So if you were writing her shows who would you have on the show?

Would it be Hugh Jackman, Nicole, Jen or maybe Russell? Of course you would.

Maybe there are a few others that you haven’t thought of.

Maybe she wants to also connect with average but inspiration up and coming Aussies, like Jess Watson and Sam Beau Patrick. Both of these ladies are inspiration and have a strong message to share with women of the world.

Sam Beau Patrick is Australia’s Health Queen and lately has been gaining publicity into her writing and discussions on social and biological changes occurring in women. Her book, Beauty and the Beast Within, is just what Oprah loves.

It describes how women have evolved in the last 40 years to now be equals in the work place and home. BUT coming with that shift are major hormone imbalances. Women are morphing into men. Her research is insightful, informative and very topical.

She appeared on Week-end Sunrise on 14th August and will be bidding to appear as Oprah’s guest in December.

Women are Beautiful

One of my favorite quotes by Sophia Loren...

"women are instantly more beautiful the second they think they are.."

I started this game of believing I was beautiful at airports. I felt safe being anonymous and would pretend I was someone VIP, or a celebrity (I still do) and I say as I swan through security and to the departure lounge - you are beautiful.
Instantly my posture improves, I start to smile (inwardly and outwardly) and I think I do look beautiful.

Try it.

150920103344

I gave some flowers out today to remind women that when they look at a flower and see it's beauty , it is only a reflection of our own beauty.

It's a beautiful Day

My song today will be U2, it's a beautiful day.

Soon off to the beach, to do a meditation and walk.

Last night I sent press releases (but more like suggestion for stories) to all major newspapers and television stations.

This is what I sent.

Oprah to meet Australia’s Health Queen
Women are turning into men and Oprah is in the perfect position to help stop this change occurring in Australian and American women.
 83% of women have identified that they feel they have or could have, a hormone problem.
(source www.byebyebridget.com survey on females and hormones, Aug 2010)

 The evidence of female hormone imbalances is everywhere.
Girls are having their periods 12 months earlier, one in six women are now deemed infertile, and working women are becoming men. Poly cystic ovary syndrome is the medical condition of producing too much testosterone and cysts on the ovaries. It is believed to affect 1 in 10 women.
(source http://www.womanshealth.gov.au)
The Health Queen, has been documenting these changes and has written a book, Beauty and the Beast Within, about her findings. The two main hormones out of balance are estrogen and testosterone. It is the rising levels of testosterone that is turning our women into men.
A major contributing factor for women developing high testosterone levels is work.
The affects of high testosterone are aggressive women, hairy women, infertile women, over- weight women, acne and physically morphing into men (increased muscle mass, square jaw lines).
“..Work often requires that women think with their heads first, not their hearts – which is unnatural for many women..” Sam Beau Patrick, The Health Queen said on Australia’s Sunrise show in August.

The best thing

Such a special day.

It started in a special place - a place called Gwinganna. A health retreat that I am priveldged to work at. It is a truly amazing place with beautiful staff.

So, it is this morning, the 14th Sept that I awake.... should I scoop up another 30 minutes of broken sleep. Nope. up and get to experience Chi Gong with Neale. A special chinese practitioner.

Bare foot, 530am, slapping my thighs....

Yes, I believe I felt tingles... energy giving tingles. Apparently this is Chi. Or as we call it, energy. Wonderful stuff....more, more, more please.

Then we are given an option (yes, I am staff but I am allowed to participate - a special treat), a yin or a yang option. I opt for the yin, Buddist meditation with Nick. He is way cool.

"..Breathe in the moment, feel the air on your cheeks, feel every pore open to the vibration of the day..." I love this stuff. Off we then wander in silence to greet teh labyrinth.

Round and round, meditating our intent, our one thought for the day, through our cells. Mine is to be on Oprah and US TV.

Round and round we go. Until we meet the launch spot. Breathe in and send off the intent to the universe. That is all. No pain, no trauma, a simple release...

Everyone obediently wanders back up to the church for more meditation. Then my sms start coming.

> "Here's your moment Sam... Oprahs coming to Aus!!! Good luck putting your plans in place" Tracey

> "..Just heard on the radio Oprah is bringing her show to OZ on 14th Dec, J9"

>Announced on Sunrise, Oprah is coming to Australia, check it out U will be a guest. Go Girl, call me " Debbie

>Hey Sam , can you text me the oprah email address" Mel

> "so , oprah in Australia - I am seeing you one there!" Karla

So with all my visualisations, and everyone's energy, it shall be so.

I shall reveal what has got me to this point and what will get me to be on the stage with Oprah...

Sam , Australia's Health Queen.
