This is (only) one of my submissions for Oprah..

Women are becoming men.

LOGLINE: Women are producing more male hormone (testosterone) than ever before, leading to aggressive women who are unable to conceive (infertility has nearly doubled in last 20 years) and who are unable to lose weight.

Outline of content: Discussion about changing hormones in women, how these changes may present (ie infertility, obesity, facial hair, aggression) and how to get appropriate treatment.

FACTS and fiction: 83% of women have identified that they feel they have or could have, a hormone problem.

Poly cystic ovary syndrome is the medical condition of producing too much testosterone and cysts on the ovaries. It is believed to affect 1 in 10 women. Sam Beau Patrick, The Health Queen believes this figure is closer to 4 in 10 women.

THE STORY : A contributing risk factor for women and high testosterone levels is work.

“..Work often requires that women think with their heads first, not their hearts – which is unnatural for many women..” Sam Beau Patrick, The Health Queen said on Australia’s Sunrise show in August. “ The result is a rise in male hormone, Testosterone.” (A later national interview with Channel 9).

Her book, Beauty and the Beast Within, postulates possible reasons for the rising levels in testosterone in women, such as stress, evolution of women into the work force and a high carbohydrate diet. Testosterone is primarily a male hormone and is responsible for the male secondary sexual characteristics such as facial hair, acne , deepening voice and aggression. In women it can cause all of those symptoms as well as insulin blunting (a major cause of diabetes and obesity), poly cystic ovary syndrome and infertility.

Sam has 3 clients willing to appear on television to discuss their experiences.

Sam believes in educating and informing people to seek out health options that have measurable and obvious benefits. Sam has become a world expert in this area and her book is very topical and helping hundreds of women.

She has appeared recently on Week-end Sunrise and Today
