Why pick me?

I sent an email to a few people last night asking if they would send a “nomination “ to Harpo for me to appear as a guest on Oprah’s Aussie Adventure.

Some of these people didn’t realise my story – funny as from the inside looking out I had never considered that people didn’t know everything about me. they share a wine with me, so I assume they know EVERYTHNG about me… so to self-indulge a little and share a bit more about my self.. this is “me” and why I would like to be on Oprah. Maybe i will work backwards..

2010 Sam, Australia’s health Queen to appear on Oprah for multiple reasons:

1. My book: Beauty and the Beast Within, discusses a new endemic affecting women of the modern societies – hormone imbalances. This is the main cause for breast cancers, infertility, obesity, emotional upset and relationship break down. I believe women need to know why these changes are occurring, why they are at risk and how to avoid the health problems arising from it.

2. My new book: Menopause. This book is out this week. Informative book giving women options to manage menopause.

3. My orphan cause: I have been working towards en masse assistance to Asian orphans for many years. I have sponsored, and assisted many, but appearing on Oprah will give me a greater platform to help MORE little darlings.

4. Simply as an inspiration. My mantra - if you believe it, you can do it. I am a sole parent with 3 kids, self sufficient with great friends. I worked out long ago that this life (for me anyway) is not about being the richest person in monetary value, but being the richest person in life experiences. That is what money buys. Choice and experiences. I am fortunate to have both.

No luck, big debt, but not perturbed.

Focus on my new baby (and his father leaves). I go back to work on the way back from hospital when Kalani is 4 days old – the magic of working for oneself is that there is NO maternity leave .

2006

Probably this year will go down as the worst year of my life. I am pregnant, have 2 other kids under 5 and no support (well no family, my babies father is not living here and playing around) and I feel quite soul destroyed. However, My gorgeous son is born this year in December and he is an amazing reward.

2005

Leave my husband. Tough year – emotionally and financially I find the separation tough. I try to leave gracefully but still find there is lots of anger and BIG emotions to deal with. I survive.

2004

Work – I hold a public forum on pain management, conduct a primary intervention study into strokes and GP management. Amazing results (65% of patients have symptoms of stroke but don’t seek out help). I pitch this to a pharmaceutical company but it doesn’t go any where.

Media – I appear in the local paper and on Channel 9 News for my pain treatment clinic (and great results).

Live in Melbourne, nursing in Accident and Emergency. Grad Dip in critical care nursing. Have a great life and nursing career. Play waterpolo, Lacrosse for the state and do lots of amazing things. One including a trip to Asia where i secure a job for Care Australia . Shortly after securing the job though, I have my things stolen while in Vietnam and end up in jail for the night. Terrified, and lost, I come back to Thailand then decide I am best to be on Australian soil.

My mum dies while under anaesthetic having a torn ligament repaired. I am 12 years old. For the next 5 years, I am shuffled around to relatives willing to have a troubled, driven child. They do there best (thank-you) but when I start working at 13, I rarely ask for a loan for money EVER again.

I think that is it… a small bio. Anyway, I have big dreams about assisting the orphans in Asia. In fact, its hard to describe. It’s more than a dream. It’s like a calling. Regardless of what happens with Oprah, I know that I will be visiting and assisting orphans before too long.
